"A Book Is A Dream That You Hold In Your Hand"

Hi cuties,

besides winter, fall is my favourite season. Coloured leaves, the sound of rain on the window while cuddling up with a good book and a cup of tea, the smell of the air as it becomes colder and crisper, announcing winter... and of course fall fashion! Cozy sweaters, boots with (fake, hopefully) fur trim, knitted accessories, tons of layers of cute clothes in toned-down, natural colours... I could go on and on (^.^)

So inspired by my love of autumn, I made two new garments for my etsy-shop. I saw these amazing book (and cat) themed fabrics and had to buy them immediately. They're from Timeless Treasures, and I can't point out enough how much I love working with them. Besides the print, which is so beautiful and detailled, the fabric itself is of this high-quality cotton which doesn't wrinkle as much and has the perfect fall, for my purposes anyways.

As you can probably guess, I'm very happy with how they turned out, so I hope you excuse the unusual amount of pictures...
As usual, follow the link under the pictures for more informations (^.^)

Custom Work

Hi dolls,

I'm currently working on some new designs for my shop, and university keeps me quite busy too, so there's nothing exciting I could show you... however, I did some custom work, so I'd like to share these with you.

Black bonnet with blue and black roses, to match the Funeral Procession of Rose print by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright

Black chiffon bonnet, adorned with two detatchable bows, linked by a pearl string and a golden star pendant, and a larger bow on the back, also detatchable.

Brown bonnet with ruffles and a lace trim

A longer dress, made with coffee-themed fabric and cotton lace.

A more summer-ish dress, made of beautiful light-weight fabric with a brown flower print.

By the way, if you're interested to see the custom work I do besides the dresses for the shop, you can follow Medusa Couture on Facebook or Tumblr! (also, that would make me very happy, too (^.-) )

Hi my dears,

for quite some time, I had this beautiful map-printed fabric lying around. I always knew I wanted to use it on a Pirate Lolita dress, but it took some time until I had the pattern figured out. In the end I went for a Marie-Antoinette-inspired, slightly over the top onepiece:

I used lots of different materials, beside the mentioned map-print farbic also ivory cotton, chiffon, tulle lace, golden trim and tassel trims.

The skirt consists of an underskirt and two overskirts, one of which is gathered in two places. I made the gathered part by sewing tunnels on the inner side of the skirt, through which two ribbons run. The ribbons can be tied on various heights, so the gathering of the overskirt is adjustable.

The sleeves end just above the elbow. I love these princesse-styled kind of sleeves that end in a huge volant with tons of laces, but I was running out of lace and fabric, so they're not as elaborate as I intended (-.-)

To embrace the whole Pirate-theme (and because I'm a hat-lover), I made a matching tricorne. Since I'm not super gifted when it comes to hatmaking, I figured I'd just put as much stuff as possible on it, so no one can tell the hat itself is not very well made. At least, it fits (^.^)

And if you made it through here, as a little treat (or punishment? Not sure about that xD), me fooling around with my new hat. ARRR!

Lolita Meet-up in Prangins

Hi cuties,

on Sunday I attended a small Lolita meet-up in Prangins VD. At the castle of Prangins, an event called Déjeuner sur l'herbe et marché à l'ancienne took place.

The theme was the 19th century and there were many activities to attend, such as a market, guided tours through the museum, demonstrations of authentic hair up-dos and make-up, dance classes and a fashion show.
Beside the delighting fact that everything was free (yay! (*.*) ), there were many people dressed up in gorgeous historic costumes, so inspiring! I almost felt underdresses in Lolita, something that rarely ever happens (^.^)
